How do I capture cities?
Capturing cities in Uprising Empires is one of the key gameplay elements. There are two types of colonization methods to choose from (Build City & Invade) with each option having slightly different approaches, advantages and disadvantages.
No matter which option you select, you must first develop your City Limit and Colonization skills in the Overall Research section of the University. Once both of these skills have been developed to the desired level you will also have to create a Trebuchet (City Attacker) which as the name suggests will be the vocal point of your upcoming colony attack.
For a breakdown of the colonization process please refer to the information below.
Build City (Only accessible on an empty city)
Invade

For a breakdown of the colonization process please refer to the information below.
Build City (Only accessible on an empty city)
- Once you have the aforementioned skills and set up an army with a colonizer unit present in the formation, you will be able to begin colonizing new territory.
- The easiest way to colonize in Uprising Empires is by building on empty city plots scattered around the map.
- To begin, simply left click the desired vacant colony and select the 'Build City' option from the military action menu to have your colonization unit's advance to the requested destination.
Invade
- As the name suggests, this military action is focused on aggression and taking over a rivals land whilst they are still inhabiting the region.
- Selecting the invade option with a 'Trebuchet' unit present will result in an attempted colonization of the enemy's base.
During this process your army will attempt to destroy any defenses set up by the defending player including armies and towers. If you successfully manage to defeat the defenses of your opponent you must also bring their population down below 500 in order to claim the city as your own. - When the population reaches below 500, you can then send out an army with certain amount of 'Colonizers' to lower the stability of the target city and eventually capture it.
- Please note that whilst the invade option involves risk and the loss of personnel, any cities captured via this method will retain their buildings and research levels allowing you to strengthen the city far faster than building from scratch.
